Have Your Cake And Eat It - 31/08/2010
By - Alpha Omega Consultancy

I hope you have managed to have a well earned break sometime during the months of July & August from whatever you normally do on a daily basis.

v These months are traditionally known as the summer months.

v If this was just staying at home, a short break or even a one week holiday somewhere in the warm sun.

v I am sure you fully enjoyed it and managed to find time to relax.

v Whatever you found yourself doing notice how different and good it felt having a break from the normal day to day routine and everyday tasks.

v Notice how well you do these tasks that they have become second nature and you have done them for so long it almost seems without thinking about them.

v What if you could do the things you really want or get rid of the unwanted things in life?

v Does the following sound familiar “ I CANT POSSIBLY CHANGE HOW I  FEEL OR WHAT I DO EVERY DAY”

v You are right you can’t possible only change what you do on a regular basis for just one or even two weeks every year. You can do it for the rest of your life.

v How?

v It is so easy it is called ‘How To Have Your Cake & Eat It’

v

v HOW TO HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT

v How To Have Your Cake & Eat It is an inspirational interactive seminar that gives you a really good introduction to the wonderful world and art of communication known as N.L.P Neuro Linguistic Programming. It also gives you an insight into what Hypnotherapy is all about.

v Below are just a few of the things you will do successfully after attending the workshop.

v Be able to communicate with yourself and others better.

v Be able to get your message across and understood by everyone

v Overcome any self limiting belief you may have that is holding you back.

v Set the right goals so that your focus is in the right direction enabling you to achieve your goal is less time than you thought possible.

v When you find time to unwind you can properly with ease and relax very quickly

Umbro Industries Bursary Awarded! - 25/08/2010
By - Banter Media

Hey guys!

As some of you are aware Banter Media pitched to a panel of 6 creative industry judges including Factory Records legend Mike Pickering and Doves' manager Dave Rofe.

Despite some initial nerves we all managed to keep our cool and pitched 'Streets Above' to the best of our ability.

After a nerve racking two hour wait we were called back to face the judges where we were told that 1) ours was one of the best presentations they have yet seen and 2) Banter Media would be awarded £3,000 to start development of the project.

Naturally were all delighted! Info on the other bursary winners can be found at; http://blog.umbro.com/2010/08/25/umbro-industries-summer-final-the-winners-are-chosen/

Thanks to everybody that voted!

Greenside Trading Centre now has a new site manager, Gillian Chisnall, who like ourselves is eager for the public to know that we are there.  With that end in mind, they are hosting an Autumn fair type market day in Beehive House in the Mill complex (directly opposite Somerfield) on 26th September.  If it is successful, it could become a monthly event.  If there are any small businesses out there who would like to participate by taking a table (£20.00) please contact Gillian on 0161 301 1344 or Rita at Little Jems.  Alternatively, please come along and support us on the day.

What to Blog? - 18/08/2010
By - Well Presented LTD

Well it's been a while since my last blog entry here but there have been planty of blog entries on my website. The following is a sample. If you enjoy it why not visit my website for more of the same.

You probably know the phrase “the road to hell is paved with good intentions” well, it’s no less true when it comes to communication. When it comes to communication intention means nothing, the meaning of your communication is the response that it generates.

What do I mean by that? Let me illustrate with an extreme example; if you walked up to somebody you care about, told them you loved them and then proceeded to hit them with a big stick then they might not feel very loved!  The fact that you intended them to feel loved means nothing.

The response generated was not that of feeling loved. The result was hurt. It isn’t the other persons fault that your communication didn’t make them feel loved. If you want them to feel loved then you need to change what you say or, in this instance, what you do with your big stick!

It’s the same in normal communication. If the message you are trying to convey produces a result other than the intended one then you need to change what you say and how you say it until you get the desired result.

So when you are communicating make sure the results you get match your intentions. Be aware of the response your communication generates. Make sure people understand you clearly, get them to repeat back to you what they think you said if necessary.

If the response you get isn’t what you expected or wanted be honest about it and own the responsibility for making yourself understood. If it is clear that your message hasn’t been understood say “I’m sorry I didn’t make myself clear, what I meant to say was…” and rephrase it. Find a way to say things that works for the person in front of you.

Fortunately most of the time our communications are simple and do not need in depth analysis. For instance “Andrew, can you make sure that you fax this over to Mr Johnson by 12pm today” isn’t going to create too much confusion, provided of course both people understand who Mr Johnson is.

However, when misunderstandings occur, it is vital to remember that the meaning of your communication is the response it generates. To be a great communicator you need to grasp this principle and put it to practice. Take responsibility for being understood.

StandApart's Internet Pilot - 18/08/2010
By - StandApart

Shooting from September 1st with the aid of Robinson's Brewery, StandApart will be producing the Internet pilot of John Mayfield's "The Blue Couch" a thirty-minute comedy drama.

So- who is John Mayfield? Well, if we are to take the opinions of writer Alan Bennett or actors Bridget Forsyth and Tim Healy into account, John could just be the next big thing in TV drama!

Can YOU help us?

We have all heard about movies like The Blair Witch Project that have been made for $10,000 or so. Well, so far, "The Blue Couch" has been put together for precisely... What's the word?

Zilch! No Dollars, No Pence, Nothing!

In these straightened times, most businesses are short on funds but YOU can help! We have brought together a tremendous team of actors and crew who have pledged to work on this project free of charge - without expenses. It would however be nice to be able to provide them with some sort of sustenance to keep them going. If You are a Tameside or Mossley based business and you can help us in cash (or in kind) we shall all be most grateful. What can we offer in return? A very well earned place on the credits! Whether you are a Butcher, Baker or a National Bus company, we can also give you product placement! If you would like to know more, you can contact Lez Barstow at StandApart on 0798 616 9888 or 0161 344 0069! Thanks for listening!

By - StandApart

Hi All!

StandApart is currently working on an Internet pilot of The Blue Couch, a 30 minute comedy/drama written John Mayfield. Who is John Mayfield I hear you ask! Well, from what has been said by writers like Alan Bennett and successful actors like Bridget Forsyth and Tim Healy, John is the next big talent in writing for TV.

So far, working on a zero budget, we have gathered together a first class cast and Robinsons Brewery have very generously agreed to sponsor our main location, The Tollemache Arms in Mossley!

Would any readers like to chip in with a tiny amount of sponsorship which would allow us to feed our actors and/or help to pay our expenses?

In return, we can guarantee you a mention on the credits and if your business or service fits in with our story (for example, a local bus company) we can also arrange for product placement. If you would like to see a synopsis or a copy of the script before pledging your support, please call Lez Barstow on 0161 344 0069- you won't regret it!

By - Mossley Model Maker

OK - small because I make models of course!

I now have a section on my website showing where I'll be exhibiting models - and am on Ashton Farmers and Craft market every last Sunday of the month.

Also I've now introduced some 3D pictures as a "New Line" - which are doing well.

I'm currently trying to find any wedding organisers or newly married couples. I'd like to transform their wedding picture taken outside the church or venue into a 3D picture . I'll provide this free of charge if I can make another copy for me to display at my shows and include on my website. Check out "my New Line" on the website www.mossleymodelmaker.com or call me on 07860 659939. Alan

We all cherish our memories especially those bygone years as each memory holds a place in our hearts. A photograph is a piece of history that reminds us of good times and family members both past and present.

unfortunately like most things a photograph can fade or get damaged losing that sparkle.

What happens when your photographs fade or get damaged? They will disappear and be lost forever. If this happens there will be nothing for future generations to view therefore putting a block on future generations tracking their ancestors.

However all is not lost, here at Restor8 Design solutions we can sprinkle a bit of magic and restore your treasured pictures back to a level that is almost better than when the picture was first taken.

We restore your pictures back to a state of repair so that the memories are not lost forever and have that sparkle that they once had to be given a new lease of life so the memories stay fresh for generations to come.

This means that all photographs that are ripped, creased, bits missing or faded etc... will be brought to as if the picture has just been taken.

There are various options available in making this happen we also offer other elements to making your pictures better these include:

  • Photo Enhancement
  • Photo Manipulation
  • Cosmetic enhancement

Brother UK office furniture bonanza - 06/08/2010
By - Warp Asylum

Big thanks to Jayne Broddle and the rest of the Brother UK gang for the excellent whiteboard (and pinboard!) that was "freecycled" to me from their office furniture clearout.

Fellow TBF'ers should check it out - they've got plenty of bits and bobs available.

It's fun and exciting - rather like a more responsible (and less illegal!) form of looting!

:-)

News From the Business Family

Each of the 2 days will focus on different procurement sectors/themes:

·         Tuesday 21st September - Meet the Constructors:
This will be local trade’s people and businesses coming to speak to major construction companies and major construction projects, including the Building Schools for the Future programme.

View the list of Construction buyers and what they are looking for.

·         Wednesday 22nd September - Meet the Public / Private Sector:
This will be Tameside MBC, Tameside Sports Trust, Tameside College meeting local businesses and suppliers, together with some of the larger private sector companies in Tameside i.e. Hyde Group, Stamford Group, being introduced to local suppliers.

View the list of Public / Private Sector buyers and what they are looking for.

We are working with local buyers to identify the types of goods and services that their organisations currently buy and what goods and services their non-contract spend budget allows them to purchase. We are also asking them to identify what forward tender opportunities will potentially become available to local suppliers during the next 12 to 18 months.

To avoid raising and dashing both buyer and seller expectations we will be looking to match up on a needs against an ability to supply basis across the two themed sectors days to provide unique face to face timed appointments for local supply companies.

A word from the webmasters - 22/07/2010

In April a company was working its way through the member’s directory and phoning everyone, unsurprisingly we had complaints and an alert was posted:

Beware of Cold Calling Online Marketing Companies.

http://www.tamesidebusinessfamily.com/directory_details.php?c_id=799

We’ve since had one or two instances of people using the directory for explicit email marketing, which has again raised some concerns.

The directory is there to help members develop business – but it isn’t intended to be a spamming aid for sending sales messages to everyone.

If you are a Tameside Business Family Member, your News/Blog Page allows you to post sales messages.

The contact facility on Member’s Directory pages isn’t intended for people to copy/paste the same message.  This is causing a spam-like offence to some Members, so please don’t do it.

We have introduced some mechanisms to limit this behaviour – and the final solution is that folk who persist will find themselves unable to send anything.

Collaboration is great, and it’s really good to see how much people are using the site – but we do need to educate the tiny minority who risk upsetting the vast majority.

Common sense should really tell you the intended purpose of the site, so please – appreciate it, but don’t make unreasonable use.

If you want to check out tools for professional email marketing have a look at http://www.tamesidebusinessfamily.com/directory_details.php?c_id=50

We are aiming to run some Autumn events around this topic for Tameside Businesses.
